Imagine this, it’s a warm summers afternoon and you’ve just finished your run (or walk). You’re extremely lethargic and in need of a boost of energy as soon as possible. It’s way too warm for a hot cup of MF Coffee so you decide to make an iced Frappuccino, however, you don’t know-how. This is where the MF Team comes in to save the day. The Frappuccino did not originate from Starbucks as many would like to believe. A Frappuccino is a mix between frappe and cappuccino. The word frappe is a French word that’s loosely translated as a drink that is either starts out frozen or with ice and then is blended until it has a slushy type consistency. Though the word ‘Frappe’ comes from the French, The Frappe was actually created just by chance in the late 1950s in a Greek city named Thessaloniki. Its creation was birthed when a Dimitris Vakondios decided he wanted a cup of coffee at a Trade Fair show. The problem he encountered was that he couldn’t find any hot water for his coffee and thus settled for cold water instead. He then added sugar mixed with ice and ultimately made a whole new drink. The frappe!
The Frappuccino now is made up of espresso coffee, milk, sugar, ice, aerated cream, and a choice of
a wide array of sweeteners. With Frappuccino’s freedom is endless as
you can add caramel syrup to switch it up or chocolate to make it a mocha Frappuccino.
Now we know how these wonderful
drinks came about, let's see how you can make one at home.
