How to make Jerk Chicken with MF Jerk Seasoning.

Good evening my fellow blog readers, we hope you’re all well and healthy as we’ve got another post cooking up for you. Today we’re going to be talking about customers can use our MF Jerk Seasoning to make one of Jamaica’s most known dishes - jerk chicken. Jerk chicken has been around for hundreds of years and is a spicy grilled meat dish that is coated in spices and slow-cooked in spices over a fire or a grill. Traditionally the cooking method of “jerk originated from the use of green pimento wood being situated over burning coals with the result of smoke would add a distinct flavour to the meat that hadn’t been experienced before. This method originated with the Tainos (indigenous Caribbean’s) but was then passed down to the African slaves who needed a way of cooking meat. This method was increased drastically when slaves would escape and needed a way of cooking without being detected by their ‘owners’. Nowadays jerk chicken is renowned for its delightful and powerful aroma that is found in the marinade. It’s quite often eaten with rice and peas, plantains and cornbread fritters that are commonly known as ‘festival’. Today we hope to walk through how using MF Jerk Seasoning will enable you to create the best jerk chicken that you and your friends have ever tasted.

Ingredients:

-          3 tablespoons of MF Jerk Seasoning

 

-          3 tablespoons of vegetable oil

 

-          2 tablespoons of soy sauce

 

-          1 tablespoon of vinegar (cider vinegar if available)

 

-          2 and 1/2 pounds of bone-in chicken parts

 

Method:

1)      Firstly you’re going to want to mix your MF Jerk Seasoning together with your oil, soy sauce and vinegar in a small bowl.

2)      Next, place your chicken in a resealable plastic bag or glass bowl, and clean it with lime and warm water.

3)      After your chicken has been sterilised, you can begin to coat it in the marinade and massage the seasoning into your meat.

4)      Refrigerate your marinated meat for 30 minutes +, the longer you keep it there, the more seasoned it will be.

5)      Begin to heat up your grill and add your marinated chicken pieces, cook on medium heat with the lid close for 30-40 minutes, chicken should be turned occasionally.

6)      Use a fork to test the tenderness of your meat and see if the juices are clear. If they’re red they need more time.
